Of Beans and Bugs

Market List: Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans, Yard Long Beans Purslane, Tomatoes, Lemon Cucumbers, French Sorrel, bouquets and hopefully Grass Fed Lamb. Its at the processor but they are having problems with their packager and being repaired this morning. I will know later today.

We are picking tons of beans, literally nearly a bushel every other day. Wednesday it took Mom and I two and a half hours to pick them. Of course that includes finding and squashing as many Red Shouldered Squash bugs and we can along the way. They surely do love the beans, both the Kentucky Wonder and the Yard Long beans. This is a picture of their eggs on a bean. When we find an eggs, we destroy them,

I usually wash them down the drain in the house or grind them into the mud . If they are just hatching like this other image, the same happens and to the adults I catch. They are faster than other squash bugs and make a racket when they fly off. This does give them away. They are almost as loud as a hummingbird but a shorter flight.

As always, it's a constant battle for what we bring to Market. Oh, and we are freezing these for purchase this Winter. See you tomorrow.

Gods Blessings on you and yours.

TTFN,

Sam and Bill
