We have been super busy around here. An interesting thing happened Monday- Bill reported for work on Monday and they told him there was a mistake, that he's still laid off - so he came back home. So he's still here to help and we have a weekend Wwoofer coming tomorrow.
Here is a section of our high tunnel planted with red Romaine type lettuces, radishes and some new peppers that we are trying, Tawny Port and Lemon Jalapeno. This week I also got in about another hundred tomato plants despite the rain and mud. Our Sun Sugar tomato Plants have blooms on them as well as our Pink and Early Girls. I put in a new variety of Kale this week called Redbor, 103 Kentucky Wonder Pole beans were planted and our Yard Long Pole beans are up out of the ground. Next week we should have a lot of radishes finally and lamb too. The French Sorrel that I put in, needs to be divided but is showing it's red veined leaves. We can see the carrots too and of course, the tomatillos are coming up like crazy.
This weeks additions to the Salad mix are more Beet greens, Red Amaranth and Mache'.

Another interesting thing happened yesterday.
I have been looking for seed potatoes for weeks. They've been gone everywhere because of the food scarcity worries. Coming back from the city,
I thought that I would check a feed store near
Valley Park.
When I walked in, there were surprisingly 3- 50 lb. bags with only a bit taken out of one bag but there was no price on them. I asked the clerk how much they were and he replied "free". I assumed it was the old joke about things that aren't priced being free but no, he said " seriously, I was getting ready to throw them out, you can have the whole bag if you want". I told him if he was throwing them away, I would take them all. So they loaded them in my car, 140 lbs.(maybe dried down to less) of Irish Cobbler potatoes. I already planted about 25 Lbs. of them.

So all and all it's been a pretty good if dirt filled week. We've gotten to where we just take off our jeans at the door.

We have 3 Ducks on nests and so are hopeful, especially since we added a Muscovy to the mix. They are supposed to be super great brooders. They want to nest all the time so we hear so we thought that we'd try it. There are about 40 eggs between the 3 of them.

So I guess that's most of what's going happening here. Looks like they are still blocking traffic in the park. I thought that it was supposed to be lifted by now but we're still hearing that we will be let into the park. Hopefully we will see you there.

God's Blessings on you and yours,

TTFN

Sam and Bill - still at home
