Slow Food St. Louis Presents The Art of Food

Market List - Grass Fed Lamb- Super Food Salad Mix, Rainbow Cherry Tomatoes, Sam's Famous Salsa, Smoked Tomatillo Salsa, Honey only Apple Butter, Pesticide Free Apples

So Saturday is the Art of Food Benefit for Slow Foods. This is a crucial fund raiser for Slow Food St. Louis who go out of their way to help local farmers make their Farms more Sustainable. By Sustainable I mean, looking towards the future in giving back to the earth and community continuously not just until a piece of equipment wears out. Everything that Slow Food supports is centered towards keeping disappearing food sources here for the world's use. All you need to do is check out the Ark of Taste to see how many of our food preparation techniques, meat, meat, fruit and produce sources are disappearing. Slow Food St. Louis combines keeping these feed sources alive with helping local area farmers to improve their farms by bestowing grants to propagate these items on their farms.
As most of you know who read my blog, I have received several of these grants and have added to my farm; Heirloom Fruit trees, Old Type Rhode Island Red Chickens, Cayuga Ducks, St. Croix Sheep,  and Heirloom tomatoes. In the process of perpetuating these disappearing food sources; my greenhouse was improved, pastures increased and improved, flocks added to, my amount of items taken to the market have been increased-duck and chicken eggs, food sources for my animals and so much more. This truly is a worthy cause.
While supporting this worthy cause, you get to eat yummy nutritious food prepared by St. Louis' best chefs devoted to local food preparation. What better excuse for a night out sampling libations from local distilleries, vineyards and breweries. This might  be my idea of heaven. Although I might have one, there will be lots of great door prizes and raffles and auction items. Examples of these are; An Heirloom Breed Certified Naturally Grown Turkey from Vesterbrook Farm, A 2 night stay and Nicola's Ozark Forest Mushroom Guest house-complete with mushroom tour, Red Fox and Whisk bakery gift certificates, Apples from Murray and Ringhausen Orchards, Bouquets from Urban Buds, Flowers from Flower Hill Farm and so much more. Lots of your favorite vendors and farmers connected to Tower Grove and Schlafly Markets have donated.
So go on Brown Paper tickets and reserve your spot now.

Saturday, see you at Tower Grove Farmers market and then at the Luminary. Wow, what a great day!

God's Blessings on you and yours,

TTFN,

Sam
