Springfield Fruit and Veggie Conference

Yesterday at my husbands urging, I went to the Springfield conference. I say at his urging because I really felt guilty spending the money. It is WINTER you know. I was really glad that I did though because it was one of the most informative conferences that I have ever attended. One thing that I learned was that I am not crazy or a show off because I have a blog or a website...there is a new word for what everybody has been calling me for years...no, not that one either. The word is innovative. HUH....who would've thunk it? But that's what Lane McConnell says about the farmers who already have a blog...apparently blogging has a new tagline too, Social Media. Again, who would've thought?
That's not all that we learned though...there was much information about Strawberries, blueberries and Elderberries, cheap ways to solar heat your green house, cover crops that repel Bermuda grass, (Yes, really) and those that double as biofumigants for those of us who want to keep our chemical free certification. Japanese Beetle issues, geodomes and tunnels....all was thought provoking, and nothing that wasn't informative regardless of your goals or certification.
Now if there had only been more shopping.....

Thanks!
